2005 Spring Speed Seeding Results (this was a non-points event) It was a great day for racing. We finally got a radar gun and the speeds where quite impressive. The Modifieds where topping out at 32 mph and the Super Modifieds where hitting 41 mph. This was a pretty rough track I believe a smoother track and some mower tweaking can produce 45 mph easily. In the Modified class Scott Jeno driving the Larry Marcel owned #82 Modified was able to hold off a challenge from the #67 of Greg Lundburg to take the win on the small oval race. Next was the Super Modifieds on the small oval. Mark Shaffman driving the Larry Marcel owned #34 was easily the fastest mower on the track. He took the lead early and never looked back. Harold Wilcox driving the #7 was the closest challenger but had to settle for 2nd. Craig Packard on the #3 and Jerry Justice on the #20 rounded out the top 4. Now on the the big track. Some of the speeds in the corners where 28 to 30 mph. In the Modified class it was the 67 of Lundburg who definitely did not plan on being denied a win today. His closest challenger was the 82 of Jeno who jokingly on the last lap (with no chance of catching Lundburg) cut through the center of the track to beat Lundburg to the checkered flag. It was quite funny. In the Super Modified class again the 34 of Shaffman easily had the fastest mower but not by much. Tony Rector driving the #71 was looking for some of the action. Rector stayed with Shaffman for the first couple of laps only to slowly lose ground looking for a faster groove. Rounding out the top 4 was Jerry Justice on the 20 and Harold Wilcox on the 7. There was some great racing and just shows how exciting this season will be.
